Do I need a 4WD to visit Fraser Island?

No. Guests staying at Waiuta Retreat can travel to Fraser Island K'gari via the Kingfisher Bay Resort ferry from River Heads and reach the house in a regular 2WD vehicle. 4WD required outside of the Resort.
How many guests can stay at Waiuta Retreat?

Waiuta Retreat accommodates up to 12 guests across 5 bedrooms. 5 Queen bedrooms, 7 beds. 1 Queen room includes a bunk bed, two Queen rooms access directly onto the 18m deck.
Do guests have access to Kingfisher Bay Resort facilities?

How do I get to Waiuta Retreat?

Take the Kingfisher Bay Sealink vehicle and passenger ferry from Riverheads near Hervey Bay. The house is located within Kingfisher Bay Resort Village. It is also possible to travel from Inskip Point near Rainbow Beach, however this is tide dependent and requires a 4WD.
Yes. Waiuta Retreat provides multiple onsite parking for guests, including undercover. Level parking for up to 7 vehicles.
Absolutely. The spacious layout, multiple living areas, large entertaining deck and accommodation for up to 12 guests make it ideal for family gatherings and group holidays.

Fraser Island K’gari is a year-round destination. Whale season runs from approximately July to October, while warmer weather is most common from spring through autumn.

No. Pets are not permitted due to National Park regulations.
Swimming is recommended in the island's freshwater lakes and creeks. Ocean swimming is generally not advised due to strong currents and marine wildlife. Guests of Waiuta Retreat have access to Resort pools.
For school holidays, Easter, Christmas and whale season, booking several months in advance is recommended.
