Can I book my Fraser Island accommodation at Waiuta Retreat Holiday House?

We are pleased to welcome guests back to Fraser Island and Waiuta Retreat Holiday House from Queensland and those Queensland government select northern NSW districts. Unfortunately, at this time we are unable to host travellers who reside in Victoria or New South Wales and others in line with Queensland government guidelines. Future bookings will be taken from interstate guests from these currently restricted areas for late 2020 and 2021 as we anticipate government announcements of eased restrictions as the situation improves in the future. We have revised booking and cancellations policy to allow for any further changes to travel restrictions by government (*see below).

Is it safe to travel to Fraser Island?

Fraser Island is a destination where you can escape the crowds. Waiuta Retreat is a self-catering accommodation with contact-less check-in/out procedures. Contact with others will be minimised when self-catering and driving your own vehicle around the island or hiking with your own group of friends or family.

Important:

There have been no confirmed cases of COVID-19 at Kingfisher Bay or on Fraser Island and like you, we would like it to remain that way. Please do not travel if you are feeling unwell or show any symptoms of Covid-19. For more information refer to www.health.gov.au.

Do not plan travel to Fraser Island within 14 days of arriving to Australia from overseas, being diagnosed with Covid-19, been in close contact with a diagnosed case of Covid-19 or feeling unwell. If you are feeling unwell, avoid contact with others. Consider deferring travel and seek healthcare advice.

What can you do to minimise the risk during you stay?

Follow government health guidelines for Covid-19 such as washing your hands and capture your sneeze/cough.

  • Wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, before and after eating, after going to the toilet and after touching items and surfaces others have been in contact with.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze, with a tissue and dispose of tissues, and wash your hands or use a alcohol-based hand sanitiser.
  • Do not touch your face, mouth, or eyes with unclean hands.
  • If unwell, avoid contact with others. Consider deferring travel and seek healthcare advice.
  • Social distance from others, stay more than 1.5 metres away from people.

What are we doing to minimise the risk of COVID-19?

Waiuta Retreat have always had very high cleaning and hygiene standards. We have now enhanced our cleaning to adhere to best practice procedures for the current circumstances. Our cleaners vacate our home, arriving guests will arrive to accommodation directly after the clean, the home having not been entered into by any others persons. We will continue to monitor any changes to covid-19 best cleaning practices to maintain our high cleaning standards for the well-being of both our guests and our cleaners.

What if I need to change my travel dates due to Covid-19?

*If you make a new booking from 8 August, 2020 and then subsequently impacted by covid-19 government health directions, if you live in Queensland the deposit will be fully refunded if Queensland goes into lock-down because of covid-19. If booking from outside of Queensland because the borders are closed and we hope they will be open, we will provide a credit. Travel credit will be valid for 12 months from the original booking date and valid only at off-peak.


What if I want to cancel my trip?

If you want to cancel your booking, you can choose to either:

  • Change your dates to within 12 months of the original booking, booking policy will apply.
  • A refund in accordance with the cancellation policy.


What happens if the barge to Kingfisher Bay is cancelled?
